When She Grows Up...

Alison hiding before her nap.

Ahh, this is the life.

Ali gets her hair issues from her mom.

It is currently -3 degrees as I write this. It has warmed up a whopping four degrees since I bundled both kids up and took them to Ali's ECFE class this morning. I keep telling myself it's too cold to take the kids out in weather like this - but if that is truly the case, the way this winter has been we would probably get out of the house maybe once every two weeks. You simply have to do it to keep your sanity and let your children know that others exist besides mom, dad, Barney and Teletubbies.

I love ECFE. (For those without kids or living outside the state of Minnesota, this is Early Childhood Family Education). We are switching classes next week and starting at a different school that is just down the block from our house. I really enjoy our current class and teachers and it was hard to say good-bye today. The teachers really seem to enjoy Ali. Ali loves the other kids, the new/different toys to play with, and all of the songs and stories. (And I love the hour by myself during Parenting Class!) Today a teacher told me what I think is perhaps one of the nicest compliments someone can give your child: "I really want to know her when she grows up." Throughout this semester, Ali has been described as "inquisitive," "thoughtful" and "having lots of spunk." But having someone tell you that they enjoy your child so much as a toddler that they want to know her later in life...well, that brings tears to my eyes.

Chris also enjoyed class with me today. He nursed and then pooped. Now that's a good morning for a two-month old.

  1. Good for you for getting out of the house! I look to you for inspiration...hopefully we'll make it ECFE next week. Can't wait to meet Chris and introduce you to Elliot. Nice blog by the way :) Take care! Hope to see and talk with you soon! - Angie
